Notes from Global Gauntlet: Neetspa Dapple Dualies (both vanilla and nouveau) Gameplay

  • Uses jump tech a lot more often than I do.
  • Plays very patiently on lockout. Isn't afraid to shark and hold position when need be.
  • They don't jump out often. Is this because they're just confident in their abilities or are they just not getting themself into situations that would require a jump out?
  • In fact, I saw them jumping into situations exclusively to get back into fights.

Talked with Jobb about it and I do believe this is because top level gameplay (and top level JP) is on a completely different level when you compare it to the gameplay that exists here in low-level. JP players focus exclusively on individual improvement and their individual growth. They grind X-rank like it's no one's business and don't often do scrims or team gameplay. They are so confident in their individual abilities that they are able to easily push forward and mechanically diff anyone they come across.

I know that if I were to play the same way that I did then I would get punished for it because I simply don't have the mechanics to back up that sort of confidence. Yet. I need to focus on getting to 2.1k xp first, and next season I am definitely going to Takoroka for X Rank, especially since I want to get better.

Nam and Blu both pointed out a big difference between the west and Japan is that the west clumps up a lot and rely on their teammates, whereas Japan is so self-sufficient that they are able to cover all areas of the map individually.

I think I'm mostly held back by my decision-making, right now. My mechanics feel fine, especially since I feel like I'm really improving there, but the decisions that I make are often slow and/or too dangerous. Playing more X-Rank would be the best way to fix this. I get punished for mistakes and it feels easier to learn and improve from those mistakes when I'm playing on my own versus playing with the team.
